2. About DisabilityX
DisabilityX is a disability-led media platform featuring:
- Axel's Podcast - stories from the institutionalised, homeless, and silenced
- Journal of Neurotypical Studies - satire and systems analysis
- Community stories and resources
Our mission is to centre people with disability as the authority on their own experiences.
3. Content Submissions
Your Rights
- You retain ownership of your stories and content
- You may withdraw consent for publication at any time
- You control how you are identified (named, pseudonymous, or anonymous)
- You may request edits or removal of published content
License Grant
By submitting content, you grant DisabilityX a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to publish, distribute, and promote your content across our platforms. This license is revocable—you may withdraw it at any time by contacting us.
Your Responsibilities
- Content you submit must be your own or you must have rights to share it
- Content must not defame named individuals without factual basis
- Content must not incite violence or hatred
- You are responsible for ensuring your content does not breach confidentiality obligations you may have
4. Editorial Rights
DisabilityX reserves the right to:
- Accept or decline submissions at our discretion
- Edit content for clarity, length, or legal reasons (with your approval for significant changes)
- Remove identifying details to protect anonymity when requested
- Decline to publish content that could expose us or you to legal liability
We will not change the meaning or substance of your story without your consent.
5. Podcast Appearances
If you appear on Axel's Podcast:
- You may use an AI-generated avatar to protect your identity
- You may provide written responses instead of speaking live
- You may request structured questions in advance
- You may have a support person present
- You may withdraw consent before publication
- Once published on YouTube, removal may take up to 30 days
6. Intellectual Property
Your Content: You retain all rights to stories, experiences, and ideas you submit. Our license to use your content is non-exclusive—you may publish elsewhere.
Our Content: The DisabilityX brand, website design, Journal of Neurotypical Studies format, and original editorial content are our intellectual property.
AI-Generated Elements: AI-generated avatars and voice synthesis used in podcasts are created using third-party tools (HeyGen) and are subject to their terms.
7. Disclaimer
Content published on DisabilityX represents the views and experiences of individual contributors. It does not constitute:
- Legal advice
- Medical advice
- Professional recommendations
The Journal of Neurotypical Studies contains satire. While grounded in real issues, it uses humour and exaggeration for effect.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- DisabilityX is provided "as is" without warranties
- We are not liable for any consequences of publishing your story
- We are not liable for third-party actions in response to published content
- Our total liability is limited to the direct costs incurred
We will always act in good faith to protect contributors, but cannot guarantee outcomes.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Victoria. We encourage you to contact us first to resolve any concerns informally.

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of DisabilityX after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
